I thought I'd start a blog of short stories about how I deal with my mental health and my Borderline Personality disorder! Laugh with me, cry with me and talk to me? [edited by Anomalia to remove link]

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy!
Was invented by Dr. Marsha Linehan who is featured in the video below.

DBT is the only known treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder.
There is no medication for BPD.
Find a therapist that can TEACH you DBT. That's right you are taught DBT because you learn to do it to yourself. But just like BPD is rare, finding a therapist that knows DBT is even rarer. It is hard to find a DBT group. Start looking today!

DBT is like a college course you take in Group Therapy. Only the therapist has the book and makes photocopies on a need to know basis. Don't try buying the DBT book and doing it yourself. I tried to and it was confusing (DoctorSpeak), caused paranoia (I thought I had ALL the symptoms) and I was told 'That doesn't surprise me'. I was in the middle of taking DBT for the 3rd time when my therapist got a better job. BPD made me feel abandoned. I read the book all at once, too fast and I freaked out because I have Borderline. You have worksheets in class and take home photocopied homework.

The core concept is your "Toolbox".
On each day of DBT, you learn a new Coping Tool.
When you get stressed, you reach into your Toolbox and use
the right coping tool you learned in DBT.
Eventualy you will be able to reach into your Toolbox blindfolded and pull out the right tool.

After taking DBT 3 times, sometimes I tell my therapist that something stressful happened.

She will say "Very good! You used your DBT Toolbox."

me > "I did? Really? I didn't even know I was using DIaletical Behavioal Therapy. I was just coping."

@Positron2 this was SO nice to read. Ive failed sticking with therapy and programs. Tried self-guided DBT and just drowned in it.
