Hi. I need some help on psychiatric patients rights.

I want to stop the treatment. Im over 18. My mother and my doctor make me take meds and go to therapy. But I dont need that anymore and i think that im better without that. So i want to stop therapy. This is my right to refuse therapy? Can they legaly make me continue?

I also would like my doctor to give me my file. Does he have the right to not give it to me if i ask for it??

thank you all,

sweet choco kisses

i think he you have the right to have your file and if you do not want therapy and medicie then think about it that leaving could have withdrawl symptoms which can be hard to handle so talk about this with your therapist and if your going to leave medicine the doze is decreased slowly by doctor anyway best of luck

I think that it's absolutely your choice would you be in treatment or no. I'm so sorry if you feel like somebody forces you. But there's always a solution for that; Kindly telling them how do you feel about treatment and listing a reasons why you want to stop it. It may help. The only time when you must get treatment is when you must be hospitalized because of a very serious mental state(psychotic episode, suicide attempt... for example).

I wish you the best :)

...and about the file. That's something you sadly can't see. At least in my country and city. That's forbidden. :/ But trust me that it's better not to see it because it can be overwhelming in negative sense.
