Stuck In Self Destruct
If I'm not cutting or suicidal, I'm overspending, if I'm not overspending, I'm under-eating, if I'm not under-eating I'm letting my anxiety cause me to pass out and ruin jobs....
I have started dbt and have started using the skills they're teaching but I'm finding out I am afraid of changing this cycle. :(
Any advice? Or can anyone relate?
@09weidman Honestly I've been feeling so consumed by my anxiety and my depression as well, I've been under-eating and skipping meals at times, but I hope that everything will get better for you and I know you'll be able to make it through this. I know my words aren't much but I hope they'll help, hope you'll have an amazing day :)

I've totally been there! It's a hard cycle to break, and it takes willingness to break it. Sometimes we get caught in this cycle and we get so use to the self-destruction that we don't know how to function without it. I've been called out for self-destructive behavior by my therapist for 4 years and I've recently reached a point that I have significantly reduced my self-destructive behaviors. I haven't self-harmed in almost 7 months, though I still get the thoughts. I haven't let my anxiety ruin my job though my hands have started shaking so bad I could barely function to do my job, I kept at it until I was allowed a break. I am doing better about not overspending (it's still my weak spot). What I do is remind myself of my long term goals, and try to act in accordance to what I need to do to achieve these goals. If something will get in the way of my long term goal, I try not to do it. I've also had 4 years of DBT training to get to this point. It's a tough place to get to, but I'm sure you'll get there when you are ready. :)
