i absolutely hate self diagnosing but i’m worried i might have BPD and i’m scared that if i tell my parents they won’t believe me and will think i’m crazy
I feel the same way. I asked a therapist if I had BPD a few years ago and she said absolutely not. Another therapist said BPD is not a real mental illness. But I can’t help resonate with the symptoms. I don’t know what to do.
BPD definitely is a mental illness. Sorry to say that but some therapists actually seem to be ignorant and stupid. You can’t tell your patient he’s not ill if he suffers from Bpd. Please look for another therapist because I understand how it feels to suffer from the symptoms. You are not alone.
I know this feeling too well but it’s important to let it check by a therapist. I know how hard it can be to talk to your parents about you worries but you don’t have to tell them everything, just ask for therapy. Don’t give up asking and there are many ways to find a therapist even though your parents don’t appreciate it. I hope you will find your way and I wish you good luck! You can do this. And no matter what your parents will say: You are not crazy. Everyone needs help with something and it’s completely okay to ask for it. Keep going!
