BORDERLINE PERSONALITY HELP
Hi this is my first time using this app and I think I am borderline and need help with diagnosis. I am struggling mental and I have frequent mood swings for no reason and most of the times feel empty and if I don't it is always anger. I hardly can keep up with my friends and gets anxiety when talking to new people. Accroding to my mother (I am 18 btw) I am distancing myself from her and my sister. And am quiet and reserved person. I cannot sleep well at night without rubbing melatonin on me. All I do is go extra when people ask me to do something for them (people pleasing) just to get there reassurance that I am what they want. And I am acting in self harm but hitting myself and I feel lonely. There are times where I feel that I am the most powerful person in the planet and then I feel like I am a loser. I just don't know what to do and I need help. I know I wrote a lot but if have read through thank you.

Hello and welcome to 7 Cups 😊
Please, be aware of the fact that neither listeners, nor members here are authorised to support you with any official diagnosis. But we are here to listen, respect you and accept you.
I think your self-awareness is great, you noticed and mentioned so many things about you:
- having mood swings (it can be important if they are a matter of days or hours),
- feeling angry, and distrustful to strangers,
- probably isolating from (all?) people, but feeling lonely at the same time,
- having some anxiety and sleeplessness issues,
- self harm (hitting yourself?),
- being a "people pleaser" (what might result from some of your boundaries being not respected in the past),
- feeling either "high", or depressed.
Yes, it might be borderline. But think of it as of the tip of an iceberg. It takes a highly-trained professional to check what lies underneath.
An experienced therapist would possibly restrain from giving you any diagnosis earlier than after several sessions. And would be concentrating not on diagnosis, but on how to make your days happier and brighter.
We are here to understand you and to be here for you. You are not alone with your struggles.
Thank you so much for listening. I talk to my parents about this but they don't want to hand me over to a psychologist because they think that will stain my medicam record and prevent me from become a surgeon one day but I don't believe that is the case but when I leave I will find my psychologist and not tell them about it but for the mean time I downloaded this app in hopes to keep pushing through. So thank you
Previous answer was correct, you need a Dr for diagnosis. I'm just wondering your aga if you need parental approval... Anyway even if you are borderline, you can be whatever you want to be. Check out on you tube, "The BPD Bunch" it's a group of individuals in various stages of functional recovery discussing the disorder, symptoms, behaviors etc from their own experience and perspective. There are people who are doctors, lawyers etc.
Good luck
Hey, it’s great that you realised and has the zeal to better yourself at an early age. I was diagnosed with bipolar and bpd, like when I was 28, never believed in mental health. I used to self harm through out my life until got diagnosed. You can always get diagnosed through online clinical psychologist, many mental disorders have overlapping symptoms. Even clinical depression have similar symptoms, don’t browse symptoms online because it overrides your mind. Whatever you get diagnosed with it really doesn’t change anything, it only helps you to modify your mind and manage well. I’m sure you will do well in your life.
I'm also borderline, if you want we can talk (18 as well)
Yep, today I was feeling empty but so empty that It does not feel lonely anymore it is just empty when I smile I don't smile because I am happy but because I see other people smile and so I do but inside I feel nothing. Sorry I don't know if I am making sense.

I feel so numb and useless...all I want to is have a couple real close friends and a partner who won't hurt me. I was a mistake. I wish I were never born.
@creativeBlackberry5596 I’m going through something similar. Recently went through a breakup where my partner blocked me out of nowhere and I asked my friend to get in contact with them to make sure everything was okay. They responded to my friend with all these things they didn’t like in the relationship. A lot of them were signs of someone who has BPD in a relationship. Im using this clue to use the strategies that BPD folks use to maintain healthy relationships in the future and seeing if it helps me!
