Compulsive lying
Hi
i have recently been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (I obviously agree with the diagnosis) and I’m waiting for trauma therapy, stabilisation therapy and bereavement therapy.
im embarrassed and ashamed of this, I literally lie ALL OF THE TIME. Like I lie about the smallest thing for no reason what so ever and I can’t stop, I always say to myself ‘I’m not going to lie again’ and then seconds later I lie again.
is this part of bpd? Or is this something totally different?
@emotionalmess030922 Lying can be a part of bpd. Emotions tend to be unstable and totally take over you. The way you are worried about other's opinion and how they see you can lead you to lying. However this may be happening because of other reasons too, such as anxiety/stress. The best thing to do is talk to your therapist in order to find out the deeper causes that cause you to lie. This is probably related to your self-image, confidence and happiness. It's something that happens to many people as an unhealthy coping mechanism and it can be fixed with therapy so you don't need to worry about it. Just be strong and determined to overcome that and develop through this alongside with your therapist. Thank you for sharing!
I have a similar issue, but i haven't been properly diagnosed ( due to improper medical treatment). I have lost many friends to this, but I have realized something. If someone blames you for a medical condition (or anything you have no control over without proper treatment), even after explanation, they are not worth being in a relationship with. That fact has cleared my mind, and I hope it in some way helps you too ♥️
