A Day From Dean's Diary
Trigger Warning
O Dear Diary Depressed,
30 July 2024 that day
Was a pretty doomsday,
With life toiling hard as prey
Began then from its weight resulting slay.
Last sleep ended in tiring hopelessness
Of the end away at twenty-four miles
But at start the vehicle got punctured airless
From tires tripping on pointed ***
Of piano playing her imaginary caress.
Morning arrives starting the nested cycle of pain
And time passing - even in time-pass – as hourglass of grain
With still so slowly settling daily grains had all the energy drain
From omens bad foreboded lifelessly by the brain.
Now afternoon comes bringing its own dreadful demise
Accompanied by work , ‘Deep shall the chicken be fried’, its promise.
Why the problems pervading all round doesn’t suffice
For work - the only oasis - now began bloodstaining your ears in malice?
Evening passed by the toxic drench from this pitfall
With people expecting a cool waterfall
From a dried down desert in the autumn’s fall
And killed the ‘self’ in its radioactive decay fall.
With dinners discerned overly by tummy becoming a football no less
Its delight deteriorated in the reigning chronic sadness,
Its sweetness succumbed stale in loneliness,
Reminding resolutely of the never-narrowing stress.
Night was more night, moon had no moonlight
Bleed ears tirelessly hearing held the cushion tight,
Nose nauseously breathing pungent backlight sight
Had lungs autonomously flared, charred to rock.
Still less sleep in the sleep slight
Or even no sleep in this lost light
For its early morning 31 July 2024.
Belated thanks
For the only birthday wish
O Dear Diary Depressed,
The book of Dean oppressed.
@Orange64 Your poem carries an overwhelming sense of exhaustion, despair and inescapable struggle.... painting 30 July 2024 as a day that felt like a personal apocalypse. The imagery—punctured tires, toxic evenings, bloodstained work and a moon robbed of its light—creates a vivid, almost suffocating atmosphere of relentless hardship. The repetition of decay, lifelessness and suffering builds a sense of inevitability where even moments that should bring relief—like dinner—are tainted by sadness. The final lines with the diary as the sole witness to this sorrow, make the ending especially poignant. If this is based on personal emotions.... I hope writing it brought you some catharsis. It's a powerful, haunting piece!!
@azurePond Thanks for reading!
It is like that it was actually a bad day when i wrote this ( probably 3-4 days from now). I decided to write something about that but initially i wrote merely only 4 stanzas. When 'The Real Smile' got completed I got an idea to describe these 4 random stanzas in a diary format of an imaginary person with some tweaks because i can add some more things hiding unnecessary details of what really happened that day and moreover I thought of avoiding direct use of first person words which felt little weird after the earlier two poems. So 2024 was one of the worst phases i went through , so i decided to just describe an actual normal day of that year . And as the problem was mainly loneliness and emotional hurt so I used an important day ( birthday) at last because I felt it more in festive days , so this made up the conclusion part.
Also now i found that a diary entry looking like a poem is cool hehe. ( tho i have never written a diary)
Thank you for reading , really means a lot.
