A journey back to the light

I sank beneath a sky so black,

No stars to guide, no voice to hear.

Each day a weight upon my back,

Each night a cage of doubt and fear.

The mirror spoke in bitter lies,

A face I swore I didn’t know.

I wore a mask, I practiced cries—

Alone where no one else would go.

I drowned in silence, numb and still,

A ghost within my beating chest.

No spark, no fight, no strength, no will,

Just storms that never let me rest.

But then a whisper, soft and low,

Said, “You are not your broken part.

You’ve hurt, but still, you have to grow—

Begin with holding your own heart.”

I reached for help with shaking hands,

Unlearning all I thought was true.

I built my strength on shifting sands,

Each day, a step toward something new.

I found my voice, though weak at first,

And spoke the truths I used to hide.

I filled my cup, reversed the thirst—

Let light seep in from deep inside.

The dawn was slow, not bright and grand,

But steady like a rising tide.

I learned to love, to understand,

That I was never wrong to fight.

Now here I stand, not fully healed,

But living, breathing, clear in sight.

My scars no longer need concealed—

I’ve made my way back into light.
