All I really know is alone. (Poem)

Sweet Heart,

I guess that is my name,

But you don't know my pain.

I try and try, to be a good guy.

But it never seems to matter.

You don't know my pain,

You can't see, what I see,

You can't know what I know.

It's the way it go.

Alone again.  Alone again.

All I really know is alone.

The strength of the emotion comes through in your poem. The theme of isolation even when not alone  feels intense, and how our challenges can seem to be ours only.

There was a few lines that really grabbed my attention; your beginning lines of "Sweetheart, I guess that is my name" was a really strong opening, emphasising how even those close may not know us. The loving epithet only highlighting the gulf between how we are perceived and our identities.

And "I try and try, to be a good guy". The repeated rhyme conjures up images of a metaphorical fist pounding the table in frustration.

A nice poem.

@BastionKnight Your interpretation is interesting...  There are about 3 or 4 females on the internet who do not know me in real life, and will never know me in real life.  They call me "sweet"  yet they don't really understand how isolated and lonely I really am.  That is what the poem is about.  But you can have your interpretation of it.  I know of a musician that said He does not like to explain his songs, because He feels that by explaining them takes away from the each person's own meanings.  You made me better understand his point of view.  Thank you.  💖
