Brand New World

Today,

The record is over; the needle lifts and returns to its cradle.

Time passes and it settles.

Dust falls and it settles.

Something strange about how a record plays for the last time.

As if,

When ma walks in, dressed in a blur of baby blue and black hair...

She reminds me to eat well and take care of myself.

But it blurs, and it settles.

And so,

They are speaking, animals, both of them.

“This is home.”

One breath, and it topples over.

It settles.

Eventually sleep tucks you in and when you wake up,

the summer sun peeking through the blinds,

It is true.

You are part of a brand-new world.

@ne0logy

Hello , thanks for sharing it here 😊

Your poem  really touched me. I loved how you described the feeling of an ending and the start of something new in such a calm, beautiful way.✨✨✨

The image of the "record is over; the needle lifts and returns to its cradle" perfectly captures💯💯 that sense of something finishing, making space for time and dust to settle. What struck me most was how even the mention of "ma" and her advice also "blurs, and it settles." This shows how moments, even important ones, can fade into the background, becoming part of a quiet acceptance of what is.

The shift to "animals, both of them" speaking "This is home," and then "One breath, and it topples over. It settles," feels incredibly deep. It might suggest a big change, or even a loss, that leads to a new balance. And finally, that quiet, hopeful ending: "Eventually sleep tucks you in and when you wake up... You are part of a brand-new world." It's a powerful reminder that even after endings and settling, there's always the calm promise of a fresh start. Thanks for sharing such a thoughtful and impactful piece.
