Ravaged my minaret in the arms of my soul.
As I plunged, abandoning my precious glow.

My heart motionless, gazing into the distant stars.
Deafening the cries of my core's war.

In this wounded frame that I espied myself.
Looking down, sorrow profound...aspersing my echo on a faint dusk.

Wondering to myself to the depth I have fallen.
Once a star now a trash, stench of fizzle draining from my breath.

For everything I see, are the cries beneath me.
Longing for a hug, now weeping heavily.

@Noom1141 This is a beautiful poem capturing the ache of falling from light into shadow. The imagery is powerful, and the longing in your words is deeply felt.... Also, I learned a new word from this poem—minaret—and it’s such a wonderful imagery. Since I’m an Alice who always falls into Google rabbit holes, I got to explore some architectural wonders because of it. Thank you for that!
