TW //dark poetry//
Turn off the lights and lock the doors,
Hide under the bed, along with the broken doll,
Away from the horrible screams and shouts,
Close your eyes, and shut your mouth.
Don’t peek, don’t listen, don’t speak
No sobs, no sounds, no tears, don’t breathe,
And hide, hide farther where he can’t reach,
If he catches you, you will bleed.
Bleed red, bleed tears, bleed dreams,
Stay silent even if you want to scream,
Your screams will only make him cut you deep,
Another bruise, and wound will mark your skin,
Constant reminder of being trapped in a gilded cage,
Cry or die.. there’s no escape! No escape!
@imaginativeSpring186 This poem carries a haunting weight... not just in its words but in the suffocating silence it creates. The repetition of “no escape ” at the end is especially heartbreaking—it doesn’t just state despair, it traps the reader within it, echoing the suffocation of the speaker.
The deliberate rhythm, almost like hushed instructions (Don’t peek, don’t listen, don’t speak), makes the fear feel painfully real, as if the reader is holding their breath alongside the speaker. There’s something deeply human about the way suffering is described—not just as physical pain (Bleed red, bleed tears, bleed dreams) but as the slow erosion of hope itself.
{If this is personal, I just want to say—your voice deserves to be heard beyond the silence and the fear. No one deserves to live in a world where - cry or die - feels like the only options. There is escape, even when it doesn’t feel like it. Please reach out to someone... anyone💙}
Thank you for reading this and sharing your thoughts. I would be lying if I say this poem isn’t inspired from real life events. Life gets hard at times. But I am trying to survive the best I can. Writing is one of the ways I let my pain out.
@imaginativeSpring186 That honesty takes a lot of strength. Writing is powerful like that—it turns pain into something tangible... something you can share and in doing so, it reminds others (and yourself) that you’re not alone. Keep writing, keep surviving—you’re stronger than you know. And if you ever need more than writing, if you need to vent, please know there are listeners and therapists on 7 Cups who are there for you. Sending you virtual hugs 💙🤗
Thank you so much. I hope I can survive and fight through this. Even when there’s less hope. I’m coping up. I’m glad to have such great listeners here who help me pull through the darkest of nights.
@imaginativeSpring186 You're stronger than you realize. And even on the hardest nights, you're still holding on — that itself is a victory. You've got this!
