In a world obsessed with brightness, we often mistake noise for connection, and warmth for care. This poem is a quiet rebellion against that illusion, a journey through the fire of being unsen and the unexpected healing found in silence.
Its about the contrast between being dazzled and being understood. Between someone who lights the sky, and someone who simply sits beside you in the dark and stays.

I once met the Sun so wild,
She danced in gold and flame,
Her voice was bright, her stories loud
But none of them knew my name.
She spoke of peaks and skies so wide,
Of cities chasing light,
Her laughter filled the empty space
But never felt quite right.
She talked and talked til dusk had come,
Still glowing as she fled,
And when she left, I touched the air
But felt more lost instead.
I saw how warmth can miss the core,
How light can blind, not see.
And though she lit the world around,
She never looked at me.
Then I met the Moon that night,
So quiet, soft, and pale.
She held the weight I tried to hide
Without the need to fail.
She spoke no words, yet still I heard
The ache beneath her glow.
In silence, she undid the knots
That no one else could know.
Her stillness didn’t beg to heal,
It stayed and let me be,
And piece by piece, her gentle hush
Made room inside of me.
She left at dawn without a sound,
But something stayed behind
Not light, not warmth, but something more
A calm that touched my mind.
The Sun once lit my skin with fire,
But never knew my ache.
The Moon just sat beside my storm
And taught my soul to wake.

Some people shine so brightly that they overlook others who are fading in their glow. Then there are those who come to us like a sense of stillness, not to fix or speak, but simply to be present.
They see us in moments of silence and love us even in our darkest times, helping us remember the rhythm of our own breath. This isn’t a poem about choosing the Moon over the Sun; it’s about being seen after feeling invisible for far too long.

But none of them knew my name 🥺
What meaning I take from your poem is that in life we are often overshadowed by bigger and louder characters, we become invisible, they continue to shine and we are lost in their shadow. But we have lots to offer, we can shine too. In life it's better to surround yourself with one friend who lets you shine, who sees you, who gives you wings and uplifts you, rather than being surrounded by a million fakes who all follow the crowd and you get swallowed up in their own sense of what counts for shining 💜💕
@Sunshine1613 this was beautiful. thank you for posting.
