The one thing I hate the most : Regret
I stand alone in quiet thought,
The things I’ve lost, the battles fought,
A thousand words I never said,
A thousand dreams left cold, instead.
The choices made, the roads I’ve tread,
Now echo softly in my head.
Each step I took, each path I chose,
Unraveled all the things I know.
Regret, a shadow at my side,
A constant whisper I can’t hide.
It lingers there, without a sound,
A weight that pulls, that holds me down.
I wonder what could have been,
If time could bend, if I could win,
But now the clock, it ticks too fast,
And all I hold is what’s in the past.
The words I left unsaid, they burn,
A lesson taught, I had to learn.
And yet, with each new tear I cry,
I wonder if it’s too late to try.
For in regret, there’s no retreat,
No rewind, no chance to meet,
The person I was meant to be,
The one I lost somewhere in me.
Yet still, I search for hope, for light,
In every wrong, in every fight,
To find some peace, to let it go,
And make amends with what I know.
For though regret may haunt my heart,
I’ll learn to live, I’ll make a start.
To hold the past, but not let it bind,
To leave the sorrow, and peace, to find.
@Peonywisteria22 Love it!!🧡🧡
You captured everything well. Now I can feel my regrets as well xD.
Hope you are OK, I sense you have had some experiences with regrets while writing?
