Winter Flowers
Winter flowers wilt in spring.
The blooms of life when everything is hardest,
They try so hard to thrive only to lose their life
When things get well again.
My dear, why are you so hurt?
Everything is well now, You do not need to
Try so hard anymore.
But you never relax, always tense,
your petals stiff and still.
But now with spring, you have wilted away,
Nobody else will see your worth.
When everyone else is thriving,
You have already used all your energy on
Living, on surviving.
Winter flower, what are you waiting for?
My winter flower, I am so sorrowful for your youth.
You had to live in such hard times,
and no one noticed your struggles.
When spring comes,
the new blossoms are cared for
better than you ever were.
Winter flowers wilt in spring,
alone and unnoticed.
Forgotten and ignored.
Lost and unfound.
I regret not being there for you,
for I hadn’t known you were not
made for warm weather.
