the mind-melter 2000 - poem
time ticks, and people die.
love goes on, and babies cry.
i'm not ready for my time,
on either side of the race.
i'm not ready to stay,
and i'm not ready to go.
in rain, hail, sleet, or snow,
i stay without a reason why;
and no one tells me otherwise.
silent punishment is a strange beast,
truly one of a kind.
i'm only a cog in the massive machine of the universe,
yet why is my little suffering so wide?
i'm not even halfway through,
and i can already feel my mind,
melting within the hot, relentless desert of time.
so, when will be mine?

Beautiful poem!... Being a spectator in your own life is an eerie feeling. Seasons change, people change, but you stay there and grow roots and moss over your body.
@tokkittalgi WOW! I think i understand your point of view. Actually i had something similar i would have liked to share... maybe I will do that next time. U R DOING GREAT!!
@tokkittalgi A very interesting and evocative poem. I liked your use of metaphor and thought that the way you saved them until the last two stanza then hit us with them in quick succession made them all the more potent, especially as they were all so aggressive/threatening; the beast, the impersonal and vast machine, and the hostile desert. These make your references to your 'little suffering' and your mind melting seem all the more fragile and sympathetic.
Very beautiful, and very sad.
