to the isle of cloud nine - poem
i can't get there yet,
but i'm on my way soon.
i can't tell you when i'll be there,
but maybe by then, you'll be there, too.
my heart beats bleakly,
but for you it sings.
my mind is silent,
though for you, it's racing.
i'm scared of change,
and changing, too.
but you've shown me the way,
and that it's alright to do.
where are we going?
who will we become?
will you still be you?
will i still be me?
don't take it in strife,
there's plenty of us both to still be.
just close your eyes.
feel the clouds wash over you.
at last, the chains come undone,
and we'll finally get back on our feet.
but for now, we're here,
and that's alright.
just know that someday,
we'll run from this cave,
then onto a plane,
disappearing high into the sky.
I love your writing! @tokkittalgi You have an awesome way of expression.😄
I think it's irony that poem fits for both birth and death!! 😲
@tokkittalgi wonderful!
@tokkittalgi I loved the play of contradictions in this poem.
@tokkittalgi
I agree with AzurePond about your use of contradiction. I also liked the ongoing use of language to depict or suggest motion both physical and emotional. I think that married into the theme very nicely.
Well done.
