A Falcon's Flight

The falcon searches
for familiar Bedouin hands,
lost in the concrete mirage.

The road snakes on,,
stretching to gray skies.
Through my window,
I look for a sign,
but some days,
daylight isn’t enough
to chase away the dark.

Drones buzz like distant thoughts,
while falcons soar with grace.
Date palms whisper stories
beneath the high-rise glow,
echoes of a past
woven into the now.

Tents of woven camel hair
hold memories of journeys
under endless skies.
In this city of wonder,
I glimpse the days gone by,
as my heart beats fast,
anticipating my flight.

Though the landscape has changed,
the spirit remains bright,
the flight-way of the falcons of old
Still guides my glide.

@azurePond

What an excellent poem! (bows in respect to you). The flow and tempo gives a sense of soaring; a majestic flight, especially when juxta positioned with the imagery you have chosen, taking us up to vast heights and swooping down as the closer details are described in crisp evocative phrases which pass by as swiftly as we see them. Gliding us through a journey both of the visual world and of memory. It makes one feel as if we are flying alongside, seeing with the narrators eyes. A truly delightful poem. Thank you.
