Artificial flowers

Artificial flowers 🌸

You knew how much I love flowers,

And you brought me one whenever I took extremely long showers.

It was like you sensed that something was wrong,

There would appear a smile on my face but not for long.

Artificial flowers were your gifts,

Slowly your behavior began to shift.

Just like the flowers your love was superficial,

And in the end not beneficial.

The flowers didn't die because they never lived,

Without soil they seemingly thrived.

“Can something that doesn't live truly thrive though?”

Is what I used to ask with eyes full of sorrow.

You never watered my heart,

 That wasn't very smart.

And also the reason why we eventually grew apart.

You thought I too would never wither,

But your behavior made me bitter.

You cannot compare me to an artificial flower,

And then wonder why our love turned sour.

Just like the flower I was put somewhere to collect dust,

All my fire for you turned into frost.

When every spark was gone,

You didn't even take the time to mourn.

You just threw me to the side,

Your indifference, you didn't even try to hide.

Unlike the artificial flower I need care,

And I want you to know that I found it elsewhere.
