Blanket of Blankness
I am blessed with blankness
A sad sight you’d think, yes,
I am a poet with no words in their head.
The type of empty that I am bred
is as full as a used up paint can.
“I can, I can, I can’t.”
My work is adorned on your walls
Beautiful colors, but here’s where I fall,
I am not those works at all.
I am the holder to them, thanked for my service,
then discarded once I hold no purpose.
So then why do I say I am blessed?
It is a curse to be unfound,
like a blank page floating around without bound.
But today, I am blessed even then.
A full paint can once again.

The imagery of a used up paint can, once vibrant and now forgotten, hits hard (A metaphor for so many things we feel but fail to put into words….. yet you did put them into words!) And that last line... the quiet triumph of being full again—it’s beautiful. Your words paint their own masterpiece. Thank you for sharing this 💙🎨

Hello, azure! Your comments never fail to make inspired. 🌞🤍 I felt bad for containers because their sole purpose is just to you know..contain. Which is where I got the paint can idea. 💡 🎨 I would like to note that at the end there is triumph, but there is also indefinite fail.
You’re a full paint can again, full of use and need but as soon as you’re done you are right back in the same spot. Why I see it as a blessing is that I’d rather take the chance of that momentary fulfillment than never getting it at all.
Once again, thank you for reading my work and offering such kind words. Receiving them from a poet I admire greatly means more to me than you could ever know. *Grins*
