TW - Graphic Imagery

Red. Red everywhere.

It overtakes you, overwhelms your senses,

before long, all and everything is red.

But it's not the kind of red that ellicits joy, no.

The red here is a symptom of an illness, a malaise brought upon all you know, a calamity unshackled and unleashed.

Fear, repression, anger, rage,

The once regal colour of red, now transformed into something of disgust, of horror, of fury, and of hurt.

It stains in all its brutality, a torrential wave that marks its prescence in everywhere it has and will be.

But life persists. And the colours begin to shift

The red slowly passes, subsiding into a purple that feels both natural and unnatural,

a colour that perhaps you could attempt to harmonize with.

The purple seems beautiful, anything would be, after the terrifying wave of red.

But with it, it ellicits more than just a tentative hope,

it seems beautiful yet terrifying, a colour that you can't quite tell what it means yet.

The streaks of bright violet causes your adrenaline to spike, while the deeper shades of purple begin to calm you, bringing you out of the danger of the red.

You begin to learn how to calm your nerves, to understand the different shades of purple that appear before your eyes.

The brutality of the red fades, though hints of it remain in certain shades, while other shades feel more hopeful, more calm and more refined, and you begin to learn how to tread the line.

And as you learn to balance yourself between the tentative hope and the memories of brutality, you find yourself feeling more and more comfortable, empowered, even.

Finally, the purple begins to fade too, replaced by a wave of deep blue that approaches slowly.

It startles you at first, and you shrink into the version of you that approached hope tentatively, scared to disturb the peace you knew, even if the peace meant what you got used to, rather than peace that you were truly content with and thrived in.

But as the blue begins to arrive, you let yourself hope, to dream, to believe, and to feel.

The blue that comes showers you in a colour so delicate yet enduring, and you begin to feel safe, to allow yourself to bask in this feeling that you've missed for so long.

Before long, the deep blue begins to shift into a brighter, more vibrant, brilliant blue.

And finally, you allow yourself to be brought out of all the horrors, the fear, and all the anger, slowly, but surely. The memory of red remains, but soon the blue will work to comfort you, to reassure you, to make you feel truly safe, to finally bring you peace, the kind that soothes your heart and helps you heal.

I hadn't really focused on the rhyming in this one, and it really just came to me suddenly and I rolled with it, I tried a lot more with the imagery and just tried to evoke emotions through it. I think it turned out nicely in the end c:
