Death of A Martyr

TW)) Implied SH and Depression

You see the scars on my wrists

A part of me is dead

This is the end and I can't get out of this

At the edge of the world my ship now sinks

As I take my last breath, I remember your face

I see it in your eyes, that fiery love which kept me alive in the coldest night

I see a star to guide me, to guide me home

It's cold out there in the snow

Please don't leave me here alone

Just hold me in your arms

Tell me you'll never leave me

And as this world fades away, I remember

I remember...what it felt like to be free.

To be free from the crushing weight of expectations

To be free of the Accuser and the Abuser

My blood is thick and my body is weak

Let me die alone and forget you

Let me forget the Reason

I long to feel the breeze of death

Sweet escape from this ****** mess

And as I bleed out

I hear the whispered words of a nocturnal creature

"This is the death of a martyr."

@bluesheepfriend

Thank you for sharing this poem! It's really well done and I can see you put all your emotion into it. I think many people will relate with this, and maybe help them feel less alone in their healing and struggles. You're a great poet by the way, keep it up! :)
