Decisive Moment

A thought:

Undeveloped film still hears light.

But why would I believe that?

I’ve never watched emulsion tremble

under red safelight,

never seen an image swim up

from chemical nothing.

Yet—
I notice how your hands twitch and your breath catches

when shadows cross at perfect angles

They say silver halides never forget—

but your neurons could put them to shame

I know your eyes caught more than your frames,

and your mind replays everything

more than your mouth ever replies
to anyone’s questions of concern.

I watch you watching the way

certain sunsets still burn

behind your determination—

undeveloped,

but latent.

@azurePond

I can't figure out the metaphor behind this, but I REALLY like this poem <3

@jesusredeemedme2425 Thank you, Kiara, for reading the poem and appreciating it. It’s about how traumatic memories often feel sharper than photographs — cameras don’t forget… and neither does the brain.

@azurePond

Sometimes the memories are more real than the trauma itself and you are being constantly transported back to that moment in time, it's exhausting, scary and too familiar 🥺
