New here
Look in her eyes and you'll find
the silent cries she shares with the night
the smile she shows so very rarely
you’ll find she’s been broken Before
yet time and time again
Everyday with the sunrise
she joins the fight again
the fight to fix and find
the broken pieces shes left behind
Im broken and hurt I don’t know my worth
the words I’ve heard all my life
They’re Constantly flowing through my mind
I try and try to block it out
but then the silent tears come out
the days I dread and hated the most
my most vulnerable times but I’m fine.
Perfection is what we chase
but will we ever win the race
or time always be there to remind us
of everything we try to leave behind us
my mind goes 10000 miles an hour
with too many airplanes up above
the noise so loud I can’t hear the wind
the noise so loud I can’t think
the noise so loud I just act out
Will i ever get to hear the wind again?
The beautiful song it sings to the breeze
will I ever see the true beauty of the sunset
or will I forever wish I was with the stars.
@Firecub2802
A very warm welcome to you, and thank you for sharing your poems. They are both so sad for the emotions they convey and yet so different. Your first is laced with a sort of defiance, a triumph against adversity. Yet the second feels so much more defeated and ground down. I found it interesting how the first is in third person, whilst with the second you chose to speak in the first person. It certainly makes the second one feel much more personal. When viewing the poems side by side I get the sense that the first is a bit like us seeing the mask of the narrator of the second poem; we see what the author wants us to see, and/or how they wish to be. Yet the second poem lets us peek beneath the surface and see all the turmoil and vulnerability. I think that is what makes both of them very sad.
Again, thank you for sharing them both with us all. Looking forward to seeing more of your poems.
