Phoenix
Perhaps the egg is within us as the egg is within the universe... and all things are the chicken.
No separation... just infinite celestial birth, life, death and rebirth cycles with no beginning and or end.
I for one am not in favor of the big bang theory or the heat death theory,
I think maybe it has just always been.
The issue is... this cosmic chicken is in fact a phoenix.
These are just possibly just my beliefs,
But it helps me sleep at night.
I look at the moment and the recent past,
And look for patterns,
To predict the origin and possible future of this place.
Everything is dust and shadow when we look too far back,
I'd predict the background radiation is simply as such,
And the big bang theory is nothing more than a cosmic graveyard from which all things renew.
And that perhaps the big bang never actually happened.
In my honest opinion,
These cycles have just always been.
Infinity.
However the concept of infinity is a weird one,
It appears so vast,
Because it most likely is, but it's recursive.
It folds back on itself.
Perhaps there is no horizon,
But either way, it loops within a loop.
The cosmic map always changes,
and the supposed gold buried at the beginning of time was already long since plundered and sold back into the checks and balances of the endless everything reforming itself.
Time is just a human concept.
The hands of the cosmic clock don't actually tick, they flow like foam on the sea and pulse.
You don't look to the sea to tell you the time...
You look to the moon, and it's affects upon the sea to see the tides.
But like water... it simply flows.
That's time.
Much like one water molecule doesn't essentially flow until it's in the context of all the other similar molecules.
Scientists break things down too far,
And forget the big picture.
The origin isn't an origin.
It's a constant pulse.
I mean attempt trying to prove your heart was beating 10 years ago,
Just by looking at the past,
Removing YOU currently from the observation.
And just instead look back into the events of ten years past without any written record.
It's all simply a pulse, the pulse of life.
Also life itself is just one of those things, it's constantly breaking down and renewing itself.
I think we humans take this for granted.
We think our lives should be purposeful,
But it's like a wave attempting to understand why it crests,
And falls,
Not realizing it's just the ocean itself.
I think we are just so intently enamored and sated by our own ingenuity we think perhaps because we built this world in our own pride and arrogance assume it comes with some extra inherent purpose?
Just because we can make 4k big screen TVs does not mean we can attribute meaning to this place, aside from the individual meaning we assign to it.
I think the true abomination of civilization was the intelligence it took to create it in the first place from a barren waste of nothingness.
Nature doesn't have it all figured out either.
To simply "be" for humans however isn't enough for some.
So we strain ourselves, in the search for more.
And in doing so conjure demons into the abyss between our inherent natures and the natures we built for ourselves.
The true torture of the mind, is the logic is takes to reason why.
It's a both a blessing and a curse.
But if we look around at the grandeur of our speck in the celestial interstellar landscape, we think ourselves quite special.
Of all we have achieved,
Just a blip in cosmic time,
One heart beat in the lifespan of the pulse of universe.
Yet we torture ourselves with these grand questions,
And as such, tear this world apart in an effort to rebuild it in our own image.
We'd learn a lot from stillness,
And peace.
@MisterYoshee Thank you for posting this Yoshee. I love how you tackle some really interesting concepts in an understandable way. "One heart beat in the lifespan of the pulse of universe." I absolutely love this line and how well it captures humanity in relation to the vastness that surrounds us. Thank you
@blueLemon6419 Thanks <3 The way I see it humanity is merely for the moment poised upon the threshold of the universe, yet our primitive thinking for the majority of the species is that this planet houses all possible knowledge and any reason inherent within the sprawling spaces between spaces of the vastness of infinity and that the summation of all knowledge is occupied only within the parameters of a tiny blue green speck in a sliver of space within just one singular galaxy amidst the celestial towering cosmos of interstellar space in all it's absolute colossal complexity. We for some reason seem doomed to pervert our lives with any and all contrived purposes. A hubris focused through such a narrowed lens in which spirals an illusion of grandeur so immense in its ignorance that it's only equally matched by the absurdity of our own insignificance. Resignation to our place in all of this, an appreciation of a place of stillness, a regard to contemplation and introspection in my opinion seem to be the only pathway towards unification in a wayward world, that already believes it's unified. This is the grand illusion. The time really is overdue for a collective reality check for the entire human species, to actually at least try to comprehend these concepts and bring peace to our already fragile world, and to sincerely endeavor to attempt to each get along with whatever time we have left. We sit on the edge of the universe and teeter on the precipice of a potential beginning of our own unmaking. The time to act from love is now. Let's go!!!
@MisterYoshee Your thoughts resonate beautifully with the concept of entropy. The way you see humanity as poised upon the threshold of the universe reminds me of how entropy shapes our existence. Consider the mixing of coffee with milk: in that moment, distinct elements come together to create something dynamic and beautiful. This interplay reflects life itself—a rich tapestry of experiences that evolves and transforms. Yet, like the swirling blend that eventually settles into uniformity, our lives too are fleeting, marked by moments of vibrancy that fade over time
I like your poem. I felt a sense of space and opening up reading it.
There are several cyclic models of cosmology which allow for a big bang from which the expansion of the cosmic background radiation we can observe and the universe itself came from, and various ways for the universe to then cycle back to that singularity state in order to expand again, infinitely. So it may not be necessary to dismiss a big bang while also having the view of a cyclical universe. I agree that scientists can get lost in the weeds, so to speak, but their goal isn't to find poetic meaning. If it turns out that science agrees with the poetic meaning, even better. We'll see.
This was wonderful to read, thank you. <3
@Zeraphim either way it's all just theoretical and worthy of contemplation, thank you for reading...
@Zeraphim The bastion of theoretical postulation is now in the hands of those with a endeavored interest in the governing laws of the universe... and the right to question those laws with reason and logic... as such thank goodness for the questioning nature of the lovers, the dreamers and me... the artisans and free thinkers shine a light for future tomorrows... *refers over to the vast array of sci-fi books in our libraries* and since I am not religious, this is quite a sobering position for me to take in the context of one enquiring mind to another... across the seas of infinity there needn't be a plug that gets pulled... maybe those waves crash upon the cosmic horizon forever... this might fly in the face of the current model of science, but science itself is an ongoing pursuit. Whilst I may not be a astrophysicist I can still use my imagination and question this reality... perhaps a questioning that is to be tested by future generations with better and more exacting instrumentation than ours... a discussion to be had in the next 1000 years or longer perhaps.
