Shadow In The Darkness
If I ask you how you feel,
I’ll ask you one more time.
Ask me how I’m feeling — the first answers always fine.
Look into my eyes, the eyes that cannot lie.
Ask me how I’m feeling — trained not to cry.
The wound, so infected, my eyes stay dry.
Do you hear the birds around you? Ever wonder what they’re saying? They’re not here to judge, only to take the blame.
If I ask you how you feel, can I look into your eyes while you listen to the birds, hug you tight from behind?
If I ask you how you feel, I don’t need an answer.
Don’t turn around, don’t look at me. The birds have fallen silent.
One last thing before I go: I’m glad you are now striving.
When I asked you those years ago — I even asked you twice, “Are you OK?” I asked away, hoping for that same question.
It never came.
But that’s okay.
Just thought it’s worth a mention.

Thank you for sharing 💜💖
There's a longing tone in your poetry.
A sentimental , nostalgic tone.
Wonderment, why we just don't say how we feel.
The power that lies in those moments when people just get us 🥰
