Unspoken Silence
In the stillness between breaths,
where words dissolve into the air,
I feel the weight of what is unsaid.
In the spaces between our words,
there is an answer waiting,
like a seed in the soil of unspoken hope.
I have asked a thousand questions,
yet it is the quiet that speaks,
where your absence is the loudest presence.
In the breath that hangs between us,
we have already answered:
There is no need for words to hold the truth.
Perhaps the truth is this:
in every pause,
there is a strength that whispers—
that even in the absence of answers,
we are already beginning to find them.
And I wonder,
perhaps the unspoken words,
are the answers we have been waiting for,
that sometimes, the only question left is:
What if the quiet holds everything we need?

Beautiful. Achingly beautiful. Your poem holds such intimacy and delicate subtlety. After reading it, passing comment seems to be clumsy and inelegant, as the simplicity of the message needs no dissection. As the last line captures so remarkably "What if the quiet holds everything we need said".
Yet rather than shut up, I annoyingly fill that peaceful void with some more verbiage. As a fan of your poems, I hope you will excuse me for it.
There is such tenderness in how you deliver each stanza. Yet also such careful ambiguity. It feels like one is breathing slowly and deeply, the poem acting as the guiding focus of a meditative state. There are such strongly loaded phrases held within ("I feel the weight of what is unsaid", "Like the seed in the soil of unspoken hope", "Where your absence is the loudest presence", and "In the breath that hangs between us"), and each feels so deeply personal and intimate that it is difficult to discern the exact dynamics at play. It makes the poem feel like it is written to someone rather than about something. Yet whether this is a love, a loss, a desire, or longing remains ephemeral.
And still it has wider themes that surely resonate with so many; the revelatory nature of what we do not say. The intangible quality of those unspoken thoughts and feelings which are so often missed because we are not listening hard enough or paying enough attention. Maybe even how there is possibly a deeper intimacy in what isn't said.
I cannot shake the impression of your poem as an exquisite, perfect and fragile thing, and all my rambling guff as a jumble of tumbling dirty stones that risk accidentally knocking it and making it discorporate. Thus I shall stop now, and just reiterate my admiration for another very lovely poem created by you.

Bastion, I truly appreciate the quiet strength in our exchanges, whether through poetry or chatroom encounters. Pertaining to this poem, I like how you've delved into the intricate layers of what remains unsaid. You’ve captured exactly what I was hoping to convey…the weight of silence, how it can speak louder than words ever could, and the unspoken connections that bind us in subtle yet powerful ways. It makes me smile on how you recognize the delicate ambiguity. Perhaps, as you so beautifully put it, there is indeed a subtle affinity in what isn’t said. As Maya Angelou beautifully said, “Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes the human voice to infuse them with shades of deeper meaning." 😊

In the hush of Dawn’s light
When shadows cling to whispered dreams, the quiet breathes, a stilling sigh.
The world unfolds in silent seams.
Leaves 🍃 converse in rustling tones. A secret held in every breeze. As morning light softens the sky, stillness sets the heart at ease.
Echoes of a distant past,
linger in the voiceless air,
a moment wrapped in tender peace,
Where speechlessness lives beyond compare,
In the serene space between, where thoughts wander, free to roam.
One finds a solace, calm and clear,
a sanctuary… a tranquil home.
