to my mom

A Heart Like Home

Before I knew the world or saw the sun, Your voice was the first melody I heard, A gentle promise that had just begun, A love that didn't need a single word. You were the hand that held me through the dark, The steady light when I was feeling small, The one who helped me find the hidden spark, And caught me every time I’d start to fall.

I see your love in every little thing— In how you listen when I have a dream, The quiet strength and comfort that you bring, Like sunlight dancing on a mountain stream. You taught me how to stand up tall and true, To look at life with kindness in my eyes, And every day I see a part of you In every goal I reach beneath the skies.

It’s in the way you know just what to say, Or how you make a house feel like a home, The way you're always there to lead the way, No matter just how far I want to roam. You are my anchor and my bravest friend, A constant heart that I can always trust, A story with a love that has no end, Written in gold that never turns to rust.

So thank you, Mom, for everything you do, For all the times you put my needs first, For being exactly, wonderfully you, Through every best of days and every worst. If I could give the world back to your hand, It still wouldn't be enough to show the part, But I hope that you will always understand: You hold the biggest place inside my heart.
