Healthline: Foods That Help Ease Anxiety
“Anxiety is a complicated mental health disorder that requires a multitude of approaches to manage it effectively. Along with medication and therapy, the foods you eat may help support your mental health, reduce symptoms of anxiety, and promote better brain health. In particular, whole, minimally-processed foods high in antioxidants appear beneficial.
However, there’s not enough research to support using food as a first-line treatment for anxiety and therefore should not replace any medications or therapies recommended by your healthcare provider.
Nonetheless, adding these foods to your diet is a great way to support brain health and overall well-being.”
My Takeaways From This Article
Foods are one of the primary ways in which your physical ways and habits can affect your mental health. Our body’s thoughts and emotions are processes of the body at the end of the day, affected by the type of compounds in your body. How do these compounds and biological substances get in there in the first place? Our food!
Certain types of food promote anti-inflammatory processes which can promote healthier moods and balanced neurotransmitter production and modulation. These foods include foods that are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants.
Examples of these kinds of foods include salmon (potent source of Omega-3), fruits and vegetables (a wide variety of antioxidants) and even chocolate/coffee!

@sunnyWriting4806 I love this! I know eating healthy can improve our overall health, but I didn't realize that these specific foods can help more! I think that a lot of us think that eating "comfort food" can help us feel better, but that's only temporary. A lot of comfort food is greasy and fried and can make us feel good, but only for a bit. It's important to eat healthy so our body is fueled with good nutrients!

I think this is a helpful article! Lots of people probably do not think of changing their diet and eating less processed foods as a way to reduce anxiety and/or other mental problems. I personally enjoy eating fish and fruits.
