The Importance of Asking for Help

"As much as we love to lend our support and help others, many of us find asking for help awkward or uncomfortable.
How can we shift our mindset on what it means about us when we’re willing to reach out to others?
Why Do We Struggle Asking for Help?
1. We’re scared of being judged.
2. We don’t want to burden people.
3. We’re afraid of rejection.
4. We’re scared they’ll do it wrong.
Why Asking for Help is Important
– It helps us be more vulnerable and authentic.
– Practicing vulnerability helps us open up.
– We will always stay at “no” if we don’t ask.
When we ask for help, we give others the opportunity for the joy and satisfaction that comes from helping. We have to be willing to ask for help and also be willing to receive it.
If we become better at asking for help, we will get more help. We will empower the people around us in a way that nourishes them and us. We can also create an environment where we receive and give support in a generous and abundant way.
When that happens, everyone thrives. Remember: we’re all in this together."
*It's definitely so true that asking for help can feel uncomfortable. But on the flip side, giving help to someone can be so rewarding and fulfilling! If we think about that perspective when asking for help, it can make it a lot easier! Asking for help can give the opportunity of becoming more vulnerable and becoming more caring towards those around us. It's okay to be vulnerable! Asking for help is really important because we can't do everything alone in this world and support is needed. Everyone asks for help at some point and there's no shame in it! ❤️ Do you believe that you are someone who has trouble asking for help? What could you do to help yourself get better at it?*

Really insightful and thought-provoking words, thank you for this! And no, I don't think I am a person who has trouble asking for help
@enjoyiableElementary9396 Thank you for your kind words! That's really great that you don't have difficulty asking for help! ❤️
@enjoyiableElementary9396 Glad to hear this.
@fruityPond7887 Definitely. There was noone to ask before or if you did ask they didn't do anything to help and usually just ended up making things worse. You learn you can only depend on yourself and you end up thinking that asking for help or admitting you need help or are struggling is a sign of weakness. Weak in your world won't survive - it can't. Is it right? No of course not. We're all human - we all have things we need and there's nothing wrong with admitting you need help
Tbh - I'm not sure. I've been here for a few years and this is something I still have trouble with asking for help - admitting I'm struggling with things
@mytwistedsoul I understand that! Asking for help is hard and our society can sometimes view it as a sign of weakness, but I hope that we are heading in a better direction! Thank you for sharing your experiences and I am very proud of you for all your hard work! 😊
@mytwistedsoul Loved reading your thoughts, on this topic.

@fruityPond7887 Thanks for sharing this article. I do have a hard time asking for help because I feel like it would burden others. And even if someone does help, I want to return the favor as soon as possible.
@comfortableNight4463 I am the same way! It's hard to know that people do enjoy helping others, but I promise that you are not a burden! 💙
@fruityPond7887 Thank you for saying this! I really appreciate it.
@comfortableNight4463 It's all true and you are so loved ❤️

Your not a lone, when it comes to asking for help.
A lot of people struggle with this.
I sometimes, struggle with this, maybe not as bad as some, but at times I do.
But, as I get older, if I need something, I ask.
That is all anyone can do is ask.
I hope this helps.
@Happy900 Well said! This helped, thank you so much.
@comfortableNight4463 Your very welcomed.
@Happy900 Appreciate it!
All asking for help does is having you kicked in the a
@considerateMoon9060 I'm sorry if you've had bad experiences with asking for help in the past. Asking the right people can help you tremendously and take some weight off your shoulders. I agree that there can be instances where it backfires but it's better to have asked them than to regret it later.
So you are gonna avcuse me now? See? That's what I'm talking about. You are both the one to talk about it in the first place
And no, it wasn't about my experience
@considerateMoon9060 I am so sorry to hear this.
Yes, people can be really nasty and not nice to be around.
My suggestion would be to just to pay no attention to them.
Try to find people who support and love you, and care about your feelings and needs.
I hope this helps.
@fruityPond7887
A very interesting article! Yes, I do have trouble asking for help from other people that I don't know since I'm an introvert and shy. But to those people close to me, I have no problems asking for help if I feel that I need it.
@professionalVision2624 That's really great that you don't have any problems asking for help from your loved ones! I think that's more important anyway since they know you better than people you don't know! ❤️
@fruityPond7887
Yes! I'm lucky to have such strong support system both in my family and also with my close friends that I can confide with them no matter what it is. It's hard as it is to open up about things when you're an introvert.
@fruityPond7887 It is easier to help others, then to ask for help.
Why?
That is a great question.
I will attempt to answer this, in the best way possible.
I think we let our inner-voice to take over, when we need to not let that happen.
Everyone needs help sometimes.
So please do not hesitate to ask.
I know the old saying, It is better to give then receive.
But, humans can only give so much of themselves to others.
It is ok to be on the receiving end sometimes.
I hope this answers the question, that you had.
@Happy900 This is a perfect response! I love how you said that we can only give so much of ourselves before needing help from someone else. Our cup runs out and we need others to fill it back up ❤️ Thank you for sharing, my friend!
@fruityPond7887 Your very welcomed my friend.
@fruityPond7887
I am DEFINITELY someone that struggles with asking for help. I am always willing, ready and able to assist others in any way that they need but when it comes to asking for assistance I struggle. I always feel like I am being a burden or a bother or maybe even showing weakness. I have been working on reaching out more and opening up more little by little.
@NiaMostMysterious Asking for help can be extremely difficult and it's definitely a learning process for many! You are definitely not alone in the fact that many people are more willing to give out help than to ask for it! I think many people, including myself, have experienced feeling like a burden. But this absolutely does not mean that you are one. I'm proud of you for slowing reaching out more and opening up!!
@NiaMostMysterious Glad to hear this.
I am so glad your able to help some, even though you are struggling.
I hope things get better for you soon.
