What is 'body doubling' for ADHD?
Body Doubling - What is it and how does it help?
Body doubling in the ADHD Community is the practice of having a second person or people present in the same room or area as you or virtual space as you for the sake of company while you work on a task.
Body doubling essentially helps with overcoming executive dysfunction and procrastination. The idea of somebody being in the same space can provide a sense of accountability and give a gentle nudge to perform a task. It creates an environment that encourages task initiation and completion.
However, not just ADHD people benefit from body doubling. neurodivergent people in general tend to benefit from this particular sociological phenomenon, Including autistic and dyslexic people.

Thanks for sharing this information! I definitely agree that I tend to work better with someone else if they are working as well, but sometimes I can laugh and distract too much!! 😳 Oops!
