Discussion Questions
What do you think finding inner peace means?
Finding inner peace can be achieved differently depending on the person, but overall it should be some sort of contentment and acceptance within yourself.
Acceptance of others, their looks, their behaviors, their beliefs, bring you an inner peace and tranquility – instead of anger and resentment.
Inner peace can be reached only when we practice forgiveness. Forgiveness is letting go of the past, and is therefore the means for correcting our misperceptions. is a quote from Gerald Jampolsky. Do you agree with what he is saying here? Why or why not?
While this is an opinion question, I would say that forgiveness is part of inner peace, as leaving that anger without resolving it would create unrest.
i dont agree, peace is like ying and yang. it has equal parts dark and light, peace can not exist without conflict
i sort of agree; i mean forgiving people shows how strong you are, since if may be really tough, but i dont think you should necessarily let go of the past
I don't think forgiveness necessarily means 'letting go
i agree with that because forgiving is moving on
I agree with the quote because if we don't forgive and try to let go of the past we tend to dwell on it then it becomes harder to attain peace that way
I agree, because as long as you dont forgive someone you are linked to that person. Your thoughts will return to the person who wronged you and what s/he did over and over again
Forgiveness is the absolute key to peace. Not only does it make us forget about the matter but also calms us. But inner peace? Though forgiving calms us.... It doesn't make us forget things... We need to practise forgetting and forgiving over a longer period to achieve inner peace
When you forgive you do not only release the other person. You set yourself free too from all of that agony
To me I think I agree because if we don't let go of our past, it will always haunt us
I completley agree with what he is saying in that quote, it displays an incredibley important message, that one can be forgiven for previous mistakes, and I strong friendship can be sustained.
Why do you think its important to find inner peace?
Finding inner peace is not just important for your own self, but it can positively affect your relationships with others.
so you can accept yourself and love yourself
To reach a more healthy emotional state, I think
we should all thrive to find inner peace, before our inner chaos consumes us. when one succumbs to it its hard to get out
so you aren't distressed and can focus on the good in life
It's important to find inner peace so you can love yourself and others without freaking out about everything. Like if someone likes you or not, and then cause yourself to have an anxiety attack.
It just means that you put yourself in a better position take action if necessary. Because now you can see more clearly, you can focus your energy towards what you want and take the appropriate action to change your situation.
Finding inner peace is extremley important, both for yourself, and for others who you want too sustain a working friendly relationship with Its all tied in with those Negative thoughts which if you know me, I am always trying too drive people away from, as they are extremley powerful. Inner Peace is believing in yourself, and showing kidnness and compassion
How long do you think it can take to find inner peace?
There is no timeline when it comes to finding inner peace! For some it comes easier and quicker than others who may find difficulty and take a while. And another factor is maintaining this inner peace, which can be near impossible to keep up 24/7!
That depends on the person And how the person feels about that situation.
iT really depends the person and the type of situation they've gone through.
The harder someone's past, the harder to find peace
that is a hard guestion, it depends not only on the person but the mindset and life style too
with the right people around you it can go really fast
depends on how hurt you are
How much they really really want peace
I think it depends on the person and the surrounding environment, it can take days, weeks, years , it can take forever ! It depends on the person
It can vary, it all comes down too what type of person they are and how much they've gone through as a few other of my fellow smarties have mentioned xD But in all seriousness, finding Inner Peace is not about the duration in which it takes for you too find and achknoledge it, its about finding it and treating it as though you have found the true soul inside you.
What are some ways you can find inner peace?
Finding inner peace will be different for everyone, as everyone has different interests. A few common physical activities may include yoga, meditation, creating art, writing, swimming, hiking, really anything!
doing stuff you love, forgiveness, ect.
Getting to know yourself. Accepting and loving yourself…
I found myself being by the water whenever i'm feeling anything other than happy.
It varies, and their are lots of different possible ways of finding the inner you. But I would say as Otto mentioned, it has too be about accepting and having faith in yourself Another possible way could be too treat others how you want too be treated, and expect the same from you, so you can bond and sustain and healthy and working friendship with others.
Yoga? Meditation, eating healthy, exercising, listening to music. Making friends, accepting people as they are, and you can't change them. You could help, and that's doing a lot and you feel pretty darn good about yourself. And listening to music, that makes me feel at peace. Taking walks, looking at nature. And just being totally awesome and nice to everyone.
When you accept what is you stop feeding energy into resisting what is. You dont make a problem more powerful and sticky in your mind. Instead, somewhat counter intuitively, when you accept what is it loses much of its power. It just is. And you feel stillness inside. Now, accepting what is doesnt mean to give up. It just means that you put yourself in a better position take action if necessary. Because now you can see more clearly, you can focus your energy towards what you want and take the appropriate action to change your situation.
Music soothes me to be honest…
being connected with nature
i play the clarinet that helps me
Do you think that you can find peace by doing physical activities such as yoga and meditation, or is it only a mental state?
For sure! Everything impacts our mental state, sometimes more than we may even realize!
Those activities do impact your mental state, do they not?
You can release anger and frustration and replace it with peace through physical activities. I should know,, I do it a lot.
Well, meditation kinda lets you enter your own mind and swim around in your thoughts, but also being really still, so you can release everything and be calm and at peace with yourself AND the world around you at the same time. Yoga is just relaxing as heck and I do it all the time. Makes me release my anger and frustration and just. Breathe in, and breathe out.
yes, when you meditate, you should feel comfortable. Banish all negative emotions. In your daily lives, to accomplish something, you have to pursue it with all your strength. You will be under pressure; you will need to think, analyze, criticize, and follow certain procedures. In meditation, there is no need for that. Feel at ease. If you do it right, your body and mind will be rewarded.
in my opinion no because i personally tried yoga i couldnt get things out of my head
In time, your body will become relaxed, expanding and disappearing into the atmosphere.
Cardio always seems to do the trick for me when I'm stressed.
How can having peace with yourself and your life impact others?
It can make better relationships with others are create a more peaceful environment in general.
It can make for a less stressed, and an all-around better, environment.
it can make everything easier for yourself and everyone around you
Peace helps boost your intelligence and mental state in some situations Thats why I truly belive in this community, and am proud too have been a part of it for 2 years this December, as it helps boost positive thoughts and persuades the mind with a bit of reassurance.
When we have peace within us, we turn out to be less resilient. We're calm and composed. We become good to people, at managing them.
Do you think that if people were able to have more inner peace, it would be better for community as a whole? Why or why not?
Yes, because as we said before, having your own peace can benefit your interactions with others, and better interactions between individuals make for a better community!
Yes, because they'd be able to deal with emotions better, and it would result in less negative actions towards others
After this discussion, what initiatives will you take to find inner peace?
To find Inner Peace, I will trust myself too deal with situations in a well controlled and sensible manner and have respect for others who I may meet along the way.
I'm going to try doing more things that make me happier. I'm in a stressful point in my life right now and I'll try to make it better!
Try to respect myself more and do things that are only good for me maybe
I'm gonna try to find a way to shut out all the negativity in my life
Doing what makes me happy rather than worrying about what others thunk
Probably listen to some soothing music and sleep... Lol inner peace for me would be some good sleep!
