Self Harm Recovery Daily Check-in : Wednesday, September 9th, 2020
Hi everyone! Super sorry for the late check-in but hello! If you don't normally check-in with us, hello! I'm Atticus and I'm going to start covering Wednesday check-ins!
Since it's very smoky where I live right now and there are many fires, it's been hard to breathe some nice fresh air :(( so wherever you are right now, I hope you're able to take a deep breath inside or outside (if you're living in a good area) and just pause a bit! Taking the time to pause and take a deep breath can be really important to remaining more present with ourselves and help us feel more grounded in our surroundings.
Check-in questions:
1) How are you doing today and how are you feeling? Tell me something good or bad going on in your life (or both!)
2) Take some time to take 5 deep breaths (if you're in a healthy space to do so) and notice how you feel! Do you feel calmer or notice any changes in your body?

I'm good! I am a bit tired haha. My dad hasn't been feeling well, and we are waiting for his covid test results, so that's a little stressful :)

I actually do! I felt my muscles relax and my mind calm down a little.
3) If you could write a book, what genre would you write it in? Mystery? Thriller? Romance? Historical fiction? Non-fiction?
I would write fiction! It's my favorite genre, so I think it would be fun.

Hi Cocoa! <3 I'm glad you were doing alright and feeling a bit tired, but I'm sorry to hear that your dad hasn't been doing well and waiting for the covid results is stressful. I have a lot of empathy for you on that one since my mom had to get tested as well. I hope everything goes well and his health is in my thoughts today <3 I'm glad the breathing helped you a bit! I think we all need to do that a bit more haha! Fiction is really cool, I miss reading it since I used to read a lot of YA novels :((

Awe thank you Atticus! Luckily, his tests came back negative :)
1) Feeling pretty inferior in my classes that I don't major in. So like, I'm taking graphic design but I'm not a major in that... so despite being in the third level of that particular class, I feel like... less than and I can't drop the class because of that reason or any reason. Just want to be done with the semester already and it just began
2) I don't really notice a change in my body
3) Probably a thriller because that's the genre I enjoy reading and watching most

Hi lex! <3 I'm really sorry to hear that you've been feeling pretty inferior in your classes, thank you for sharing that with me :(( It makes sense that you don't feel really good in those classes and that's not your fault! Being aware that you are in that class just to learn instead of maybe majoring may be a good way to affirm yourself whenever you feel really doubtful? Sending you all my hugs and good wishes <3 I've actually never read thrillers before nor have I ever seen a thriller? That's really cool hehe <3

Parasite (2019), Zodiac (2007), The Shining (1980), Doctor Sleep (2019)
There are others that I can't think of right now. But, hopefully this short list will have something you enjoy if you find time to watch!
