Self-esteem boost
Hey everyone and happy Wednesday!! I don't need a self-esteem boost, but lately I've been boosting my friends' self-esteem and hyping them up a ton and it's been really fufilling and also great to hear some self-estoom boosts for myself. Whether if its comments on my body, my outfit, my personality, my style, or pretty much anything, it's really nice to hear great things thrown at me and it's also just a really wholesome thing to boost someone else's self-esteem as well!
I don't believe I've really written about self-esteem in the past before, but it is a really important part of recovery to maintain a balanced self-esteem. This is because it can really be challenging to look at ourselves in positive light when we're going through difficult struggles, such as self-harming, and it's important we boost ourselves up or receive boosts from others at times.
Discussion questions/boost:
Boost your own self-esteem! Talk about a part of yourself (personality, body, style, anything) that you like and that you value.
Boost someone else's! Tag someone in the forums that you would personally like to boost their self-esteem for (can be their compassion if they're your long-term listener or a member that is always kind to you in rooms)! If you have no one to tag, you can tag someone in the taglist!

Hey there :) I like this ! We need more self esteem boosters in life and less criticism ;)
Boost your own self-esteem! I don't share this with a lot of people but I like my creativity. I admit that it does come from a darker place of my mind, so it's not really the thing that people want to hear about you know ? But I like the stuff I write down, I like it when I do calligraphy/word lettering, I like making playlists to fit a certain mood. And one thing that I nearly never share is my dancing. I love to dance, let the emotions kidnap my body and do whatever they want. I hardly ever show anyone though, it's my safe place and I'm too scared that someone will break it with criticism.

She's helped so much recently with all the wonderful messages, funny anecdotes, random facts, compassion when I was feeling down and so much more ! Such a kind, gentle, bubbling with life, soul <3 I'm genuinely happy that we met, I haven't got enough words to thank her <3

Hey <33 I'm so sorry for getting to this so late but awhhh you're awesome Slizzy. To compliment you first, you're always commenting/replying to my forum posts and you have no idea how grateful I am for that! At first I would be really scared that no one would really read or reply to my forum posts, but it's sort of nice to know that I'll always see your name pop up in the list of people who reply and I love replying back to your replies as well as reading them <3 I agree though you definitely seem like a really creative person and I love that you do word lettering (I sort of do it for my bullet journal and digital lettering as well)! Letting your emotions kidnap your body and doing whatever they want you to do is 1. incredibly good wording and figurate language, wow please teach me how you write so well and 2. sounds scarily fun? :o I bet you're secretly a fantastic dancer, but trust me I don't have enough confidence to dance at all so I get where you're coming from! @linearwaves is so cool I definitely agree. I'll be complimenting her back later haha <3

Thanks for the compliments <3 Oh digital lettering ? I wonder what that looks like ! I'm old school, paper and pen x) Haha I'm not that good at writing not sure how I could teach you ! I tend to just let my thoughts out, though I would say that sometimes it takes me a while to find the right words x) And it is fun ! And I'm not a good dancer, I have no technique at all but dance isn't just about technique right ?
Okay so to be honest, if I hadnt been tagged, I wouldnt have done this because Im not too good with self-esteem, but well, that just means that I probably could use this boost!
Boost your own self-esteem! It took me a bit to think about it but what I like and value is my stubbornness, especially how I use it. I have been told by many people I shouldnt do a PhD, been turned down by several that I applied to because of my mixed profile that "wasnt qualified enough" to their likings, but here am I. When I was younger my drawings were terrible, incredibly ugly, but I wanted to draw like my dad so I kept trying and trying and trying and eventually they became decent. My head told me many times I wouldnt make it this far and I would never be happy, let alone never be okay, never make it through this hard time, never overcome this, yet here I still am. It takes time and efforts for sure, and often comes from wanting to prove people/myself wrong which might be childish but well, who cares if it works?
Boost someone else's! Actually I'll be taggng you @TheAtticusFinch :p I dont know you super well but from all Ive seen, you sound like an amazing person, compassionate, sparkling, dedicated, driven by passion, always ready to face challenges and thats incredibly inspiring!

Linear, I can't even begin to express how incredibly it is that you have managed to prevail all of what people expected of you and how you were able to figure it all out on your own and just exceed the expectations that were set for you. I know where you're coming from and can definitely relate to some of the things you said about people telling you that you weren't good enough or qualified enough. All of that is complete crap, you are definitely good enough for anything that you want to pursue and I'm really glad that you've gotten so far!! <3 Also it's so cool that you managed to become better at art, my grandma was an artist for most of her life and I hope I can learn that one good quality about her (her personality and beliefs aren't great but her art was okay) and be like u! And omg, thank you so much for complimenting me 🥺that's so sweet, I'm literally uwuing (even though I'm late to this message!!). I do think you're everything that you described me to be as well and I also hope I can be more of all of that in the future <3

I definitely hope you can progress on art (that butterfly you made in the other days check-in was so lovely!), I like to think of qualities of others like clothes or books (or anything) in a shop: you can pick what you want and let it inspire you!
