Hi my name is Selena and I'm 15 and Ive been thinking about self harming for a while now and tonight I did it. I wanted to feel the pain somewhere because I couldn't take it anymore with feeling it in my heart. I cut my thigh and I keep doing it and I need tips on how can I make the pain go away. I just want the pain to stop so I started cutting myself but it works for a little bit and then the pain comes back. But I just want it to stop.

Hi Selena,

First of all, thank you for opening up. That takes real strength and I mean that. I’m really sorry you’re feeling so overwhelmed and in so much pain. What you’re going through is not something you deserve to carry alone, and I want you to know you are not alone.

It makes so much sense that you'd want some kind of relief. When the pain inside is too big, sometimes it feels like the only way to manage it is to put it somewhere else somewhere visible, somewhere physical. You’re not weak for feeling this way. You’re hurting, and you’re trying to cope with the only way you know how right now.

But Selena, I promise there are other ways to release this pain ways that don’t leave scars, ways that won’t hurt you even more in the long run. You don’t have to go through this by yourself. Please consider talking to someone you trust a parent, a teacher, a counselor. There are people who care so deeply and want to help you feel safe, seen, and supported.

You matter. Your pain matters. And I know it may not feel like it right now, but this moment doesn’t define your whole story. Things can get better, and there is hope even if it’s hard to see it right now.

In the meantime, here are a few gentle things that might help soothe the pain without hurting yourself:

- Hold something cold like an ice cube in your hand

- Take a really hot shower and let yourself cry

- Journal your thoughts, uncensored

- Listen to music that makes you feel understood

- Wrap yourself in a blanket like a cocoon and breathe slowly

Selena, you're not broken. You're just human, feeling too much. And you are worthy of love, comfort, and healing. Please reach out to someone close, and if you ever need to talk again, I’m here.

You don’t have to carry this alone. You deserve help, and you deserve peace.
