I started and i hate it.
I never thought I would get to this point, but I recently started self-harming and I honestly hate that it’s even become a part of my life. I’ve been feeling really overwhelmed and sad, and it’s like I didn’t know how else to deal with everything I’m holding inside.
I don’t want to keep doing this. I don’t even know exactly why I started. I guess I felt numb or just desperate for some kind of release, maybe my family problems are affecting why I started. My mom has been yelling at me for small things, she would make me cry everyday… When I first did it, it felt good and it helped me calm down. But now I feel even worse after, like I let myself down.
I don’t really have people to talk to about this in real life, so I came here hoping someone might understand. If you’ve gone through this or are going through it now… how did you get through it? How do you stop when you feel like that’s the only thing that helps in the moment… are there any other ways to let my feelings out instead of hurting because i don’t like hurting my skin..
@Canterburybells123 I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. Self-harm can feel like a way to cope when things get overwhelming, but it’s okay to want to stop and find safer ways to release those feelings. Sometimes, things like drawing, squeezing a stress ball, writing down what you feel, or even just taking deep breaths can help, even if it’s just a little at a time. You’re not alone in this, and it’s okay to reach out for support whenever you need it. You deserve kindness, especially from yourself.
