I'm new to this and I'm not to sure how to start. Umm some days I feel like I'm spinning out of control in my head and next thing I know I'm biting myself. It doesn't happen everyday but it is getting more frequent. I thought I had it under control but I don't. My last time biting was today. It is spilling over into my relationships.

@sbowen83

HI, I'm a SH, but I've managed to stop for several years so far. I learned that talking to listeners on 7cups was very helpful! I suffered depressed manic anxiety and first I had to call the crisis helpline on and off for a couple months, and then they convinced me to go to the ER because of the thoughts I was having. I had bit myself on the top of my hand, and injured my wrists. After I spent 2 weeks on the mental health ward of the hospital, I followed up with iop (intensive out patient), all day, for 6 weeks, then pop (partial out patient) then I found 7cups and got a great therapist. I had to learn to get out of my own way, and agree to 5 medications: 2 for depression, 2 for anxiety, and one I can take to make me tired so I can shut off all the manic thinking, and get sleep. I used to suffer awake for 35-45 hours until I couldn't handle it many times. Don't ever be afraid to call a crisis telephone number even if it's just to have somebody to talk to. This website is great for getting the help you need, and also as you learn and gain more coping tools, you will have first-hand experiences that you can help others with. I remember I needed to refocus and I had a desire to find my purpose.  Giving back is an awesome way to give our lives new meaning and a sense of helping.
