I have been sh free for about a month and everytime me and my boyfriend get into a fight thats all I can think about and I can't talk to him bc he doesn't understand it. Any suggestions?
@blueWater3235@blueWater3235 Hello blue, thank you for sharing this, as it's great to hear that you've been self-harm free for a month, however it sounds as though conflict with your boyfriend is acting like a trigger at present. Being able to identify patterns such as these is very helpful; what seems to be making matters more difficult is that you feel unable to address this with him directly. I've linked to the self harm guide, which takes a deeper look at identifying triggers and patterns like these and how to replace the thoughts that drive SH impulses with more helpful ones, as well as how to talk to people about self-harming. There is also a growth path (linked below) to support you as you continue your journey towards remaining self-harm free. As ever you also have the support of this community, blue.

honestly, i totally understand this and this post made me feel seen. i struggled with this alot too, and although everyone's experience is different, my advice is to just take a moment. just breathe, it sounds like very basic advice but i promise, just try step back from the situation and take an amount of time which feels sensible for you to just breathe. why i reccomend this is because sometimes (in my own personal experience) in the heat of an argument, or under stress i tend to have thoughts about sh, to argue further or cause more stress in the situation. so just taking some time to breathe momentarily can ease that.
