i have recently had to come out of a year and 4 month relationship with my boyfriend due to my mental health becoming too much for a healthy relationship. my boyfriend has always done his best to support me and help with my urges to self harm, however it is my responsibility to get better and nobody else can do that for me. everytime an argument happened i would end up self harming due to not being able to deal with my emotions, it is not healthy. we have had conversations about potentially getting back together after i have worked on myself abit more.

i have been clean for around a week, which is a good thing but i can't help but feel like a ticking time bomb, waiting for the next reason to hurt myself. i want to get better, not only for the sake of my relationship but for myself. any advice on this would be greatly appreciated

@trulycodie Well, he was probably very good, but the problem is that partners influence us, even if we don’t notice it. If you often quarreled, maybe it was not the best time, but maybe it was your boyfriend’s fault, for example? In any case, he tried to do something, but your reactions to quarrels speak volumes about your self-esteem. You often blame yourself, don’t you? In relationships, people like you often feel more responsible for everything. And probably, if you still failed to create a healthy atmosphere, maybe you are not the only one to blame. But be that as it may, you deserve all the best and probably you should not think about this guy and your relationship. After all, even if you change, he will remain the same and the scenario can repeat itself. So hold on and be strong now, and then something else will happen. Good luck!
