Alternative methods

Instead of cutting when I feel high intensity feelings I want alternatives. Like screaming into a pillow, smashing ice on the ground something sort of chaotic rather than drawing or practicing mindfulness. Any ideas? nothing that’s just another form of SH like punching walls etc

@Notreallysure64

I have found shredding stuff helps. Paper, clothes, and best of all - the polystyrene white thermocol thing that comes in packaging. That gets broken down to bits. Makes a mess but oh well.

@Notreallysure64 maybe rubbing the area where you want it and just trying to make it feel warm and then stretching it out - so you don't have the feelings within you?

@Notreallysure64 maybe going for a walk - and seeing what's out there? Trying to spread one's mind past where it normally goes as far as possible to feel as free as one can - which can be a distraction or a feeling of liberation.

@Notreallysure64 I'm not sure being chaotic would help - because it's about decreasing violence rather than escalating it. To me, instead of putting energy towards something non-productive, why not do something that would be engaging - like citizen science, learning a new subject - something to give yourself some worth? Otherwise doing something for the sake of it I feel would leave people without. It's like junk food - you feel invigorated at first and then it gets your later. I'm all about the healthy instead - something that lasts in teh long-term.
