Dad of daughter that self harms herself
My teenage daughter pics at her skin creates wounds and then continues to pick the scabs over and over and over. I imagine there's some underlying pain or trauma and I really want to help her I love her so much I just don't know what to do. Thank you in advance for your advice
I'm so sorry. I'm 43 and I have ruined the skin on my arms and parts of my legs due to it. I have recently started talk therapy and it is helping me get to the bottom of what triggers the picking. I suggest getting her gel manicures. It is a nice treat, plus it thickens your nails and buffs the edges making it hard to pick.
I'm here to chat if you'd like to

Hey Best,
I understand how hard it is to understand your daughter who self harms by picking at her skin. I would agree on that there could be some underlying trauma that she has experienced and just hasn't talked about it. it's not an easy topic to approach. I would suggest doing what you think would be best in your opinion. Whether it's sitting her down and asking her if she wants to tell you anything or something else. if she doesn't want to say anything, don't pressure her. It means she is just not ready to open up about what's bothering her. I would suggest not waiting too long because you don't want the problem to get worse. And maybe consider getting a therapist for her. Teenagers usually don't want to talk about there problems and keeping it will only make them feel worse. I hope this helps. Take care❤️
