I think i went back to old habits.. (Trigger Warning)
Hi, I am new to this community but you can refer to me as pinky. So a few hours ago I think I had a little mental breakdown. I started crying and while I was crying I felt heartbroken (i started feeling physical pain in my chest and stomach). Normally I don't cry at all and keep my tears in (i cry rarely). But when I was crying a few hours ago I got the urge to scratch myself, so I grabbed the nearest sharp object. I made the scratch not expecting it to bleed but it bled a little so I had to take care of it. (it's been months ever since I first self-harmed and I never did it again until today)
so the after-effects were weird. I felt so ashamed at what I did and like I am being dramatic. Now though I feel weirdly calm.
Should I talk to someone about this? I really don't wanna scare people or have them worried about me
@Alwayshungry983
Hi there !
I'm sorry to hear about this. It sounds like you were feeling some strong emotions there especially if you're someone who doesn't cry very often. I don't know about others but sometimes I SH just to get rid the emotions that I don't know how to deal with. Maybe it's the same for you ? Or maybe it isn't, SH is very different from one person to another ...
If you want to talk about it, I would encourage you to do it. Just be aware though that SH comes with a lot of stigma and you might need to spend some time explaining it.
Take care <3
@Alwayshungry983 you're not gonna scare people who know what they're doing. it's normal to want to transfer your emotional pain to physical pain, because it's more tangible and a way to let out your emotions without hurting anyone but yourself. mental pain is impossible to get rid of , it creates this energy that you have to get rid of -- but you can't. so forgive yourself for the urge.. HOWEVER -- do not do it, because you could seriously hurt yourself and you are a human being. Dig deep. Please, please reach out for help to a therapist or really anyone professional. Do not reach out to your friends, it's hard to explain things to people who haven't felt them -- it's not a fault of theirs, and you could be misinterpreted & the situation could grow much worse when you need it to get better. Reach out for help. Whatever you do, please do not share with your friends until you have an outlet for real help. You might have wonderful friends, but i don't want you to get hurt further.
