Me, my blade and I ( possible trigger warning )
Hi, this is my story.
I am quite a shy girl in real life, so i dont usually like to share things like this whilst talking. Coming on here has its benefits, such as things like this.
My life took a dark turn in march of this year. I was feeling so overwhelmed with all these different emotions, and it felt as though it was getting too much. One of my friends struggled, and had told me about how she cuts to get relief. I quickly jumped on that bandwagon, cutting every day leaving permanent scars. The only problem was, it became a sort of addiction. I felt as though self-harming was something that had to be done, and i wasnt going to get relief any other way. I realized it wasnt later on.
I self-harmed for a few weeks every day until one of my friends noticed in the locker rooms. She told me that i needed to tell a teacher and i said no. It was so embarrassing, a girl in all the top classes, achieving the top grades, yet i still resorted to cutting. I felt like a fool, and this is why i told nobody until months later. My mom found the cuts, and i was devistated. Of course, she wanted to know the ins-and-outs of it all, but i couldnt tell her that. Reason being, i didnt even know why. I knew when i felt stressed id cut, but i couldnt explain this to her at the time. It was all new to my parents, and they were really shocked too. It was the best thing i ever did, telling my parents. Now im in therapy, and im happy to say i havent cut for 9 months.
Hi there @Smurfette333, thank you so much for being brave and having shared your experience with us. It is always very comforting and inspiring when reading about someone else's recovery journey. I am very proud of you for 9 months with no SH, for being in therapy, for taking care of yourself and cultivating your awareness and self-love.
@Smurfette333
It is great to hear that you got all of that figured out. Finding the strength to tell someone is not easy. Addiction is a beast, and it haunts 2 out of 5 people in this world. Im proud of you for beating it, and getting yourself help.
If you ever need to talk, because you are struggling, need to vent, or just want a friend, let me know! Im here.
