I've fallen down the anxiety & depression route again. Everything is causing my anxiety to flare up and thats now caused things to fall back into bad habits etc

I know what the trigger was and its caused a huge ripple effect on my life at the moment. And im stuck....

I havent SH for over a year, but last Wednesday was the worst day and i did turn too it. I havent since that Wednesday but have thought about it....How do i bring it up with a friend? how do i ask her to give me things to distract me from SH again, to keep me busy?
Odd as it may, but shes my only support network that knows about how bad ive fallen recently (and i only want her to know,plus shes coming to the doctors with me in a few weeks time) but how can i bring it up and ask her for distractions and help?

@admaiorasemper

Thank you for your help, i have tried the butterfly thing this week and it has worked for the first day but the butterfly came off and when i got really stressed and it wasn't there - it triggered it again....will permanent marker work? It did work on that one day and i did fight the urge when it was there.....

@TinkerCat28

I am proud of you for being able to resist the urge that day heart

I understand how not seeing the butterfly anymore would have been triggering... Permanent markers do stay a bit longer. Perhaps you could keep re-drawing your butterflies from time to time, even if you are not feeling any urges, just to make sure the ink doesn't come off. You can see this as an extra act of care towards them, that may eventually make it more difficult to self-harm because you grow even more attached to them <3
