Sommer will be hard

It's spring and soon it will be summer. I've only hurt myself a few times lately and the worries about what it's going to be like when it's summer are always on my mind. I mean when it gets hot everyone will wear short sleeves and I can't. I can't even remember how I did it last year and this year is even scarier than before. i wish i had no scars to hide and could enjoy summer like everyone else... any methods to hide it? i really wish i know that my life will change 180 degrees if i start to cut myself. i really like to know how i should survive summer without getting strange looks and not having to be afraid of everyone all the time. I don't want to have to explain what's going on with me because I don't want to and can't confide these thoughts to anyone. i don't know myself! then everyone would only think about it and i would worry about the reactions of my friends all the time. can't summer just be cancelled?😢😖 please?

I feel the exact same way. Summer is my least favorite season and somehow the season when I get the most urges to cut. It's already getting hot here where I am at. I still have recent scars. And I get heated easily plus wearing a jacket or long sleeves is just gonna make me melt. So what I'm doing right now is wearing a bandaid over the new scars.(Just a few over the very noticeable ones to not draw too much attention by using a lot of bandaids.) The scars on my wrist are either covered up by my watch or scrunchies /bracelets. I also wrapped some gauze around my hand and wrist and said that I had injured myself on some broken glass.(Which is technically not lying, but I never told people it was intentional) Then I kept it on there until the scar faded. I mostly wear short sleeves cause it gets really hot and for the most part people either don't notice or don't care. And most of the time I hide my arms real well. I make sure to position my arms in a way where people can't see them, and somehow its been working for quite a while now. If in any case I do have to wear long sleeve during the summer I make sure to wear either a thin loose jack or a flowy long sleeve shirt (one of those see through fresh shirts idk what you call them lol). Ugh but I get you it's tiresome, no, EXHAUSTING 😫 having to stress about hiding your scars from people.

@vera08 My scars are mostly too red or extremely white to just wear short sleeves. And I feel like every prseon around my is about to judge and ask curious questions. And I'm not readdy to answer any of these. I loved summer before and now I feel just very uncomfortable to even think about it.

Hi. I've also had a huge problem in summer with covering my self harm scars and cuts. I used to wear bracelets over them, but then i moved up on my arms so they weren't possible to cover without wearing long sleeves. When i got older, I still cut but really didn't care so much about what people thought about them. I do try to cover them if I know im going to be around someone who may have the potential to judge or even a doctor who might want me in the hospital. I'm a listener here, though so if you want to talk, I'm here. I don't know if you want to speak with someone older, but i know i can learn a lot myself. *hugs*
