What constitutes as self harm?

I don't cut myself or anything like that, but sometimes I choke myself with a scarf or pull my hair as hard as I can, or hit my head on something. Lately, I've wanted to do that again; my life is pretty much going to ***. I don't mean to, but it distracts me from my mental pain. I don't know if that counts as self-harm, and I don't do it too often, just when I'm having a breakdown from stress. Nothing that causes actual wounds anyway. Regardless, any insight would be nice.

@sympatheticTown2921 Hello...I am sorry about how life is getting you down right now. I can relate. I do believe that is a form of self-harm. I began by banging my head or even other parts of my body against something. Seeing the mark it left or the ache I felt seemed to help and distract me. With that being said, it is important to seek help now rather than later when/if it escalates.

This does count but please try to be gentle with yourself as you navigate this.

It's important as hard as it seems, to stop , and replace these harmful coping mechanisms with something safe.

This cannot continue on 🩵
