I've been clean 5 years but still get strong urges. It's 5am and I can't sleep because of a big urge. How do you guys fight it/stay on the right path ?

Hello @wittyCake5809

It sounds like you are fighting off a relapse. I'm proud of you for staying strong <3 There are many things you can do to cope with urges. Personally, I like to try and distract myself with YouTube or reading. If those don't sound appealing, you can find other ways to cope with this self-help guide. You could also check out these resources: Videos to help cope; self-harm resource spreadsheet. If you want to brainstorm more coping skills, please don't hesitate to reach out to a listener <3

Hey there ! I'm sorry to hear that you're having a hard time. You're strong to able to resist the urge after so many years. I'm proud of you for getting so far. Distractions work well for me too : reading, watching a film/series, doodling, dancing, listening to podcasts. Anything that will either keep my brain focused on something else or will keep my hands busy.

Stay strong and don't hesitate to reach out for help, good luck <3

Hi there <3 most people have already responded to you at this point with most of the things I would say too, but I just wanted to give some extra reassurance that all things must pass and this will too <3 I know the thought of relapse is scary.. I'm 2 years clean myself and I validate your thoughts about this. I hope you're able to find healthy ways to cope with what you're facing right now and stick in there. :) Take care hon!
