Hi I
So I guess this is how it works to actually write your feelings down and be truthful. Well here goes. Hi my name is Amy Im 27 years old and have been struggling with self harm since I was 14. Why I started thats another story. But nearly 3 years ago I promised myself I wouldnt do it ever again. And I havent. In March its been 3 years since i cut. The last month has been hell with the urges. They usually go away. But this time they havent. They are so strong and I just Jeep thinking that one more time wont hurt. But I know deep down it doesnt work like that. Im really struggling with the fact that its still happening. Shouldnt I be recovered after all that time. I guess Im so ashamed to say it out loud because I feel that I shouldnt be this way still.
I hope I'm doing this right.
I just wanted to say that I am impressed by the wisdom and strength of a 27 year old who has been able to stop self harming for such a long time. I have a daughter a couple years younger than you want you to know you are strong for coming this far. There is a quote I thought of when I saw your post:
"My scars are proof that I survived whatever it was that tried to kill me"

Hi, welcome
I'm impressed both by how long you've been able to not cut and how well you're able to express yourself.
Just think of it this way, you've had a habit/coping mechanism for 10 years, it's not bad or weird at all that you're not gonna get rid of that in only a couple of years, especially when you're not getting professional help with it.
Good job and be proud of yourself, you deserve it
