Alcohol
Hi. Most nights my mum asks me if i want a drink of alcohol and i find it easy to say no or to limit the amount of alcohol that i drink. However tonight she has not asked me if i want alcohol. When she does not ask me whether i want alcohol i find that i get cravings for alcohol and i feel as though she is stopping me from having alcohol because she does not want sa drink of alcohol.

@impartialLychee6279 Hello there, and welcome to the community! We are happy to have you here. Those are some interesting observations you make. I would say that my mum is a big influence on my alcohol intake. When my mum wants a drink of alcohol she tells me that i am boring if i do not want a drink of alcohol. If my mum does not want a drink of alcohol she tells me that i am an alcoholic. Either way i cannot win as i am branded as boring or an alcoholic.
@impartialLychee6279 I'm so sorry to hear you get unfairly treated in either case! Indeed, family is a major influnce with alcoholism, and you are so strong for being able to cope with your mother and her behavior towards you. It is understandable how much she also impacts your cravings. The alcohol does not need to define you. We are here for you! Feel free to reach out if you ever wish to keep us updated on how things are or just need to vent out. Best wishes!
I remember when it was my mums birthday last month and my cousin came round with some alcohol. I ust have said a million times that i did not want a drink of alcohool. I just felt that it was too early in the day to even consider having a drink of alcohol. It was onlly 1 in the afternoon. I had just had my dinner. The lasst thing i was thinking about was a s drink of alcohol. My mum and my cousin said that i was been a miserable twat. I was made to feel ass though i was been the bad guy but when my mum does not want alcohol she thinks that thosw who want alcohol are alccoholics.
@impartialLychee6279 You don't deserve to have such pressure to consume alcohol. It is a huge shame that your cousin and mom treated you that way. Do you have any support system or anyone you can go to for support or comfort?

hello,
not sure how this works but i want to share something and i dont share much at all because ive always had to be the strong leader one even though im not that strong its a cover. from today i am never drinking again ive been a functioning alcoholic for 21 years since my first husband was killed in a car accident. now im not function properly anymore especially at work and i know that i am powerless over my addiction now, something i have never understood or even admitted before. i needed to say this to someone so thankyou for listening have a beautiful day and no just today im not putting capitals or doing spell check because ive got other things to focus on
