How to address alcohol issues in a new relationship
Hello all.
I am new to this site and reaching out. I recently started seeing someone new- someone I'm pretty crazy about so far- but I've always had a problem with drinking and I'm not sure how to address it with him or if I even should. Sometimes when I drink I keep drinking until I black out. I have always had an issue with this and it has affected previous relationships. The problem isn't always from my time blacked out, but how high my anxiety gets the day after when I realize what happened. A black out has happened as recently as this weekend and I was with him and his friends when it happened. I woke up next to him and he didn't act like anything was wrong (was as affectionate and didn't seem phased at all) so I didn't mention anything about it. I really like this person and don't want to mess this relationship up or do something stupid while I'm blacked out. I know that a simple solution would be to just not drink around him, but he and his friends drink often. If anyone has experienced anything similar or has any advice, I would appreciate it a lot. I also have pretty high anxiety generally just for a little more background.

Hello! I too have an alcohol problem, and I drink again after a night where Ive blacked out so that I can cope with acting like a fool.
Its extremely hard to confront someone about an alcohol addiction because they dont know how you will react. Even when it was extremely obvious I was drinking I kept telling my family and boyfriend that I didnt drink and they chose to believe me they want to trust me. After I came clean to my boyfriend and parents they were relieved.
